This covers the TrickQuiz iPhone app and this website.

1. The short version
You can play without giving us anything. If you never sign in, we hold an anonymous account with your scores in it and nothing that identifies you, unless you pick a display name. Advertising is how the app is paid for, and where the law requires it we ask before anything personalised is shown. You can delete everything from inside the app at any time.
2. What we collect
2.1 If you play without signing in
An anonymous account is created for your device so that your stars, streaks and results can be saved. It holds a random identifier, a display name if you choose one, and your game data. It contains no email address, no name and no contact details.
If you pick a profile picture, it stays on your phone. We never receive it.
2.2 If you sign in with Apple
Signing in attaches an Apple ID to the account you already have — it does not create a second one. From Apple we receive an identifier and an email address, which may be a private relay address if you chose to hide yours. We do not receive your Apple password.
2.3 While you play
- Which questions you were shown and how you answered
- Scores, stars, streaks, trophy cards and leaderboard positions
- Duels and Battle Royale results
- Questions you report as wrong
2.4 Technical information
The app sends us no device identifiers, no analytics and no crash reports — the diagnostic log it writes stays on your phone. Our servers see the IP address a request arrives from, as any server does, which indicates roughly which country you are in. On the website: IP address, browser and pages visited. If you have chosen to share analytics with developers in your iOS settings, Apple may pass us anonymised crash reports.
3. Advertising
The app shows advertising supplied by Google AdMob. Two kinds appear: ads between games, and rewarded ads you choose to watch in exchange for something in the game — starting the daily quiz, a bonus question, an extra life or a hint. A rewarded ad is always offered before it plays, and always your choice.
Whether the advertising you see is personalised depends on your own settings, not on whether you have an account with us. On iOS, personalised advertising requires your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt; you can change that answer at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. In the European Economic Area and the UK we additionally ask for consent through a Google consent form before any personalised advertising is shown, and you can change that choice later from within the app.
The kids section contains no advertising of any kind.

4. Children
TrickQuiz has a section designed for younger players, with its own questions and no advertising. It is intended to be used with a parent or guardian's involvement, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because playing requires no account, a child using the kids section is not asked for a name, an email address or any other identifying detail. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to us and we will remove it.
A child can still choose a display name from the profile screen, and that name is shown on the leaderboards. If you would rather they did not, leave it unset — nothing in the app asks for one.
5. What we use it for
- Running the game: serving questions, scoring, leaderboards, duels and Battle Royale
- Saving your progress and restoring it on another device if you sign in
- Improving the questions — including finding ones that are wrong
- Detecting cheating and abuse
- Showing advertising, which is what pays for the app
- Meeting our legal obligations
6. Who else sees it
We do not sell your personal information. It is shared only with:
- Supabase — hosts the database and handles sign-in
- OpenRouter — routes our review requests to the models below
- OpenAI — checks questions for mistakes, and checks a display name when you choose one. It receives the question or the name, and nothing that identifies you.
- DeepSeek — searches the web when a question turns on a fact that needs verifying. It receives the question and the answers, and nothing else.
- Vercel — hosts this website, and is the standby route for question review if the one above is unavailable
- Google — supplies advertising through AdMob
- Apple — handles sign-in and any purchases
- Anyone we are legally required to disclose it to
Other players see your display name and your scores where you appear on a leaderboard or in a duel. They see nothing else.
7. How long we keep it
For as long as your account exists. Delete the account and the data attached to it goes with it — see deleting your account, which sets out exactly what is removed and what remains. Encrypted backups may hold a copy for up to seven days after that, and then expire on their own.
An account you never sign in to lives on the device that made it. If nothing touches it for twelve months we delete it — by then the phone that held it has almost certainly moved on. Signing in changes that: an account with an Apple ID attached is kept until you delete it.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to object to some uses of it, and to receive a copy of it. Deletion is available immediately in the app. For anything else, write to info@trickquiz.com.
We answer within one month, and will tell you if we need longer. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the data protection authority where you live.
9. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with row-level access controls: on every table that holds your data, your rows are readable only by you. Leaderboards are the intended exception — a scoreboard nobody else could read would not be one. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you promptly if something happens that affects you.
10. International transfers
Your data is stored in the European Union — our database runs in Stockholm. Some of our providers operate elsewhere, so information may also be processed outside the EEA and the UK: advertising through Google, sign-in and purchases through Apple, and this website through Vercel. Those transfers rely on the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission, or an equivalent approved mechanism. Write to us if you would like the details.
11. Changes
We will post any update on this page and change the date at the top. If a change materially affects you, we will say so in the app rather than relying on you to notice.
